ABOUT ROMAIN

Romain is a seasoned economist with over 20 years of experience. An engineer from École Polytechnique and a PhD in economics specializing in econometrics and impact evaluation, he brings to Veltys and its clients both deep technical mastery and high-level expertise, developed over his years at CREST and INSEE within the French public statistical system.

A former Director of Studies at ENSAE, Romain is also a gifted educator, as demonstrated by his many years of teaching statistics and econometrics at institutions such as École Polytechnique, ENSAE, Sciences Po, Supélec, and Albert School.

Widely recognized as a leading expert in machine learning, artificial intelligence, econometrics, and modeling more broadly, he brings a Chief Scientific Officer mindset to his consulting work—applying the rigor of academic research to real-world problem solving. Always eager for complex challenges, technical innovation, and a clever pun, he has the right reference at just the right moment.

Romain holds degrees from École Polytechnique and ENSAE and earned his PhD in economics from EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences sociales), with a specialization in applied econometrics. With Romain, don’t hesitate to dive into a passionate debate on sampling bias in machine learning algorithms—it’s one of his favorite topics!

As Vice President of the ENSAE Alumni Association, Romain remains committed to the school’s motto:

“Giving meaning to data to evaluate, forecast, and decide.“
